Reports!

Erica gives some tips for getting the report-writing processes in your company working for you.

R E P O R T S ! They are a fact of working life for most of us.

(They are also the butt of pop culture jokes: remember “TPS Reports” from the classic 1999 movie Office Space? If you’re too young to remember that movie, go look it up on Netflix now. Hilarious!)

Reports are synonymous with the working grind.

It’s tedious, never-ending work that doesn’t really matter (or at least it feels that way). Basically it’s the opposite of the experience we all want!

Here’s a crazy idea: Creating reports is *NOT* your job! (even if it is, you know, included in your job description).

Let me put it another way: Reports in themselves do not drive results. Responding to them and taking meaningful action based on reading them does.

I’ve seen reports kill a LOT of time and energy.

Yet we are so accustomed to heavy reporting requirements that we rarely realize or question their necessity.

Here’s my very strong hunch, based on my experience: within your company’s reporting requirements there ARE opportunities to improve, streamline, save time and energy!

Check the video for a few ideas of mine and share your own! Let’s get out from under the grind that is reporting!
